Serving as the resident ballet company for both Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth and the Winspear Opera House in Dallas, Texas Ballet Theater welcomes twirling toddlers as young as 3 years old. Texas Ballet Theater also offers a specialized boys-only class for ages 7–14, designed to support and strengthen young male dancers in their unique physical and artistic development.

One thing that makes them stand out: Texas Ballet Theater School—voted by our readers as runner-up for “Best Dance Class” in our 2025 Best for Families survey—offers adaptive dance classes created especially for young dancers ages 5–8 with Down syndrome or similar diagnoses. Artistry Elite Dance

Artistry Elite teaches toddlers up to teens, so your littlest dancers (18 months to 3 years) can start with the creative movement class, where they’ll bop, bounce, and build basic coordination. Littles ages 3–4 can level up with a combo of creative movement and acro—think tumbling meets twirling. Starting at age 3, ballet/tap combos help kids grasp rhythm and technique through playful movement, while 5 to 6-year-olds can explore the magic of Broadway-style jazz and acrobatics.

As dancers grow, they can dive deeper into specific styles: ballet classes (for ages 7–12 and 13+) focus on classical technique and graceful alignment; jazz brings the energy to life; contemporary empowers dancers to tell stories through movement with lots of expression and improvisation; and hip-hop keeps things high-energy across multiple age groups (5 through teen).

What we love about the studio: Owner Amber Evans is a gifted choreographer well-known for the stories she weaves into her students’ dances, which is what makes them so successful at competitions.
