If your child is looking for something different, you can explore various Dallas ISD Choice schools and programs which include transformation schools, Magnet schools, collegiate academies, and career institutes. We explain the differences in each below:
Dallas ISD Transformation Schools
Dallas ISD transformation schools are designed around an innovative instructional model and open to any student no matter where they live. Learn about our single-gender schools, personalized learning, virtual and hybrid school options. Montessori, International Baccalaureate, STEM/STEAM and more programs are also available. There are no academic entry requirements. Applications are accepted annually from November through January. Students are selected via lottery, and families are notified of acceptance in March. The second round of applications are open now.

Dallas ISD Magnet Schools
Magnet schools provide your son or daughter a challenging academic environment that complements your child’s interests, talents, and abilities. Our Magnet school programs are among the highest ranked in the nation. Some Magnet schools are currently accepting round two applications. These schools have academic criteria.
Dallas ISD Collegiate Academies
Collegiate academies, early college high schools, and P-Tech programs enable your child to earn up to sixty hours of college credit, tuition-free, while still in high school. Imagine the benefit of eliminating thousands of dollars in tuition while your child earns college credit and skills that can serve as a head start in the workforce or four-year university.
Dallas ISD Career Institutes
Dallas ISD career institutes provide high school students a choice to pursue a career and technical education pathway, an opportunity to work with industry partners, ability to train on state-of-the-art industry-standard equipment, and obtain certifications prior to graduation. A career institute will prepare students for high skill, high wage, and high demand occupations. Students spend part of their day at one of our 3 career institute locations and the other at their home comprehensive high school.
Kids are unique individuals—they learn in different ways and are interested in different subjects. Dallas ISD neighborhood schools and public school choice programs embrace these differences. Visit dallasisd.org/choosedallasisd to learn more about these great opportunities offered in Dallas ISD.
