Dallas sisters Erin Duvall, 38, and Molly Duvall Thomas, 41, share a lot more than vibrant red hair. They share a passion for giving back—both serve on the Women’s Auxiliary board to Children’s Medical Center Foundation—a creative streak that led to Sisters of Red, a popular blog-turned-lifestyle-brand, and a similar ethos on parenting. A musician and real estate agent, Erin lives with her four children: Gray, 8, Townes, 7, and Mila and Waverly, 4. Molly works as an event planner and has three children, Liam, 12, Hutch, 11, and Lillian, 8, with husband Chris.

DFWChild: How have you evolved since becoming moms?
Erin Duvall: We’ve both learned to be more organized and flexible.
C: What’s your parenting style?
ED: We’re both grounded southern mothers; manners are super important. But we also focus on our kids’ positive traits and experiences. We lean into what’s important to our children and take time to listen to them and learn from them.
C: Who keeps you grounded?
Molly Duvall Thomas: The family and friends we surround ourselves with day in and day out keeps us grounded.
C: Most daring thing you’ve done as parents?
MT: We both had boys 15 months apart! That has definitely been a wild ride.
C: What’s your superpower as moms?
MT: Both of us are multitaskers extraordinaire. Between seven children, our many projects with Sisters of Red and our other jobs, multitasking isn’t just how we survive but also the way we thrive.
C: Do you have a strategy for juggling it all?
ED: Work out every day, as it’s a great stress reliever. And manage your time wisely. Remember to take breaks and have fun too.
C: With three and four kids, respectively, how do you make sure they each get what they need from you?
MT: Time and good communication.
C: It seems all moms struggle with guilt. How do you deal with yours?
MT: Church, wine and exercise—in no particular order.
C: You both serve as members of the Women’s Auxiliary board. How else do you give back?
ED: I’m also a member of the Auxiliary Board for AT&T Performing Arts Center.
MT: And I’m a member of The Crystal Charity Ball.
C: You’re also great creative collaborators. Given the success of Sisters of Red, what’s next?
ED: Our next step is a product line.
C: If you had to pick five words to describe yourself, what would they be?
ED: Creative, energetic, loyal, fun and musical.
MT: Social, loyal, artistic, organized and fun.
C: Who do you consider a superhero mom?
MT: Our mother is the absolute superhero mom. She [has] five children and 16 grandchildren. She’s always loving, gracious and perfectly poised. Plus, she’s our fashionista icon!
C: What’s the best advice that you’ve been given from a fellow mom?
ED: Don’t sweat the small stuff and every child is different, so always embrace those differences.
C: Is there golden rule that you live by?
ED: To follow the golden rule of life: Treat one another the way you want to be treated.
C: What life lessons do you hope to impart to your kids?
MT: Be accountable, humble and kind.
C: What’s the best life lesson you’ve learned thus far?
MT: Time is fleeting. You’ll never regret the time you take off to be with your family and friends. Drive carpool and put your kids down at night; you’ll learn so much from your little people.
C: What do you want your legacy to be?
ED: To have a healthy family in mind and spirit.
