Where to Watch the Solar Eclipse Today

Take the kids to safely see the sky turn from light to dark (the Dallas-Fort Worth area will see a 75 percent eclipse) smack in the middle of the day at one of these fun events around town.
 
Fashion solar eclipse headbands and learn a special dance when viewing the once-in-a-lifetime sight from 12:30-2pm at Interabang Books.

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is hosting a solar eclipse party from 11:30am-2:30pm at the Camp Lawn, overlooking White Rock Lake. Come for the view (with free glasses while supplies last), $2 hot dogs (or bring your own picnic), Kona Ice, oversized lawn games, music and more. Admission is $1; $5 to park.

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is throwing a free solar eclipse party from 12-2pm with out-of-this-world space activities and crafts, safety glasses for the viewing, a live-feed of the total eclipse and a lot more. Sun, moon or other space-related costumes are encouraged.

If you purchased your own eclipse viewing glasses, head to White Rock Lake at Winfrey Point, Bachman Lake at the Pavilion or Kiest Park at the Pavilion from 11am-2pm (water will be provided).
 
Bring your own glasses to the plaza at Sundance Square for a community watch event from 12:30-2:30pm.

Come to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History’s hands-on, eclipse-themed activities, a livestream of the total eclipse, safety glasses and more from 11am-1:40pm. Adults, $15; kids, $12.

View the celestial event from the Frontiers of Flight Museum’s solar telescope (outfitted with a filter for safe viewing) or with a free pair of glasses for the first 300 visitors, and stay for interactive activities from 10am-3pm. Adults, $10; Kids age 3 and older, $8.
