Your child can be king for a day at South Lakes Park in Denton, a tucked-away gem full of adventure for kids of all ages. The large castle-like wooden playground area sits in the center of a large park with plenty of open areas for running and ample parking. A basketball court, tennis court and soccer field are among the amenities athletic families will enjoy. Restrooms and shaded pavilions with grills make South Lakes Park an ideal destination for a family picnic. After a quick bite, kids will be anxious to explore the playground. Parents should stick close, because the playground is large, with numerous crawl spaces that can obscure view. The playground earned a B for an overall safe design, although there are spots of rust on the equipment. Be sure to take notice of the sign that suggests hand washing after play. The wooden playground is treated with chromated copper arsenate, which can be harmful if left on skin. 556 Hobson Ln.
