Sanctuary: Tracy Pierce

Tracy Pierce and her family did a 180-degree turn nearly one year ago when they made the cross-town move from lower Greenville to a quiet neighborhood behind Flag Pole Hill in Dallas. Before finding their current abode, the Pierces lived “in a Tudor with all arts and craftsy furniture,” says the former Dallas Independent School District counselor and mom of two boys, Maddoc, 10, and Reid, 7. “We literally sold everything,” she explains, and started over in their sleek, modern home with furniture designed by the likes of Saarinen, Eams and her husband, David, who happens to be an architect. “We prefer modern,” says the style savvy Pierce, but admits, “we would have two houses if we could … one traditional and one modern.” So where does this modern mom go to chill out? To her Barcelona chair and ottoman by Mies van der Rohe. Whether it’s cozying up to read a magazine (most likely of the architectural variety), or watching Grey’s Anatomy on TV, this is her spot of choice to sit back and relax.
