Pizza is one of the few things that can make you feel like a kid all over again, and that’s precisely what takes place time-and-time-again for diners at Eno’s Pizza Tavern in Dallas. This Oak Cliff gem sits right in the heart of the most kid-friendly part of the Bishop Arts District, surrounded by soda shops, children’s boutiques, toy stores and parks.
This 3-year-old restaurant is housed in a 100-year-old building with all the charm of a modern farmhouse. Rustic chic antler chandeliers wrapped in twinkling lights hang from the ceiling while tables made from reclaimed wood fill the spacious, and immaculately clean, dining room.
Although the menu and atmosphere is as kid-friendly as it comes (local art displayed from Rosemont Elementary students, piano sing-a-longs on Tuesday nights, coloring placemats, etc.), their pizza is far from average. Typically, pizza is only as healthy as the ingredients you put on top of it, but at Eno’s, they take that one step further with delicately thin crust topped with locally-sourced fresh ingredients. From hand-pulled mozzarella to tomatoes fresh off the truck from Canton, Texas, each hand-picked ingredient displays the passion from chef and owner Matthew Spillers, who dreamed of opening a pizzeria since childhood.
Ingredients include local hamburger, pork belly, pepperoni, local pancetta, fresh tomatoes, fresh basil, sport peppers, fennel, artichokes, sundried tomatoes, parmesan, mozzarella, goat cheese, and much more! While pizza takes center stage at this place (try the Central Pie), they also have a variety of other options for picky eaters, from hamburgers to pasta Carbonara (delicious!). But the beauty of pizza is that anyone can just pick off the ingredients they’re not crazy about.
Eno’s large farm-style tables can seat an entire baseball team, and while the kiddos color and sip Abita root beer (made with 100 percent cane sugar) in a frosted mug, mom and dad can enjoy a pint of micro-brewed beer or a glass of locally-sourced wine right at the table… no weird bar feel here!
