Country Girls

There’s a new doll in town, and she’s turning your daughter into a humanitarian. Ling, Zoe, Gia, Pita, Piper and Lulu may come from different countries, but they all go to school and have fun … because kids around the world are pretty much the same. And that’s just what Karito Kids wants children to understand. The company also wants kids to know that they can give back. That’s why each doll purchase ($49.99 and comes complete with a boarding pass) invites girls to play online cultural learning games, earning points to make a donation to the charity of their choice. “It teaches girls to have a positive influence on the world,” says Jessi Moreau, general manager of The Toy Maven in Dallas, which carries the dolls. She adds that some of the charity options include building mosquito nets in Kenya or acquiring schoolbooks for children in Mali. “It’s girls helping other girls.”
