Judy Boyd

Judy Boyd is a full time realtor and Mom to Emily, 12, Kyle, 9, and Jordan, 18. They reside in Richardson.

6am  My alarm goes off. I wake up and think, “What day is it?” Realize it’s Wednesday and turn it off.

6:30am  Second alarm goes off. I wake up and think, “It’s still Wednesday?” Finally get out of bed.

6:35am  Get Chubbs out of her kennel and let her and Baxter outside. Stumble to the bathroom, sit down and realize that someone closed the toilet lid.

6:45am  Clean myself up and go and let the dogs back in.

6:50am  Sit on the sofa trying to get my eyes to stay open and wish I could go back to bed.

7am  Wake up Kyle, hand him some clothes to wear and he promptly tells me that he doesn’t want to wear that. I tell him to get his own clothes and get dressed.

7:10am  Wake up Emily and tell her to get dressed.

7:15am  No one is up so I yell from the kitchen, “Emily and Kyle, get your butts out of bed!”

7:20am  Go to the kitchen to make their lunches because I am too lazy to do it the night before. Give them their favorite breakfast: cereal or frozen waffles with lots of syrup. Once again I hear the story about how Aunt Tricia makes Brandon a hot breakfast of eggs, sausage and biscuits EVERY morning and has it waiting for him when he gets up.

7:22am  Tell the kids they can go live with Aunt Tricia if they don’t like what I give them.

7:30am  It’s time to leave for school, so Emily (now) starts looking for her books, homework, shoes, pencils and, oh yeah, there is a paragraph that she was supposed to write last night but forgot.

7:40am  Kyle and I are sitting in the truck waiting for Emily to get her stuff together and come out.

7:53am  Drop the kids off at school, tell them I love them and Aunt Tricia will pick them up today. Remind them to talk to their aunt about that adoption idea.

8:03am  Get back home and look in the backseat and see that Emily forgot her lunch — again. Drive back to the school and take the lunch in.

8:15am  Get home for the second time and jump in the shower.

8:25am  Get dressed, dry my hair, put on my makeup and get ready to go to work.

8:45am  Walk by my home office and decide to check my e-mail really quickly before heading to work. Get distracted. Check MySpace, look on eBay for fireplace screens, reply to a couple of e-mails, read the CNN page, look for dresses online, check my bank balance, read Cristy’s blog, etc. I need to get going. Get up to leave and see a stack of papers on my desk. Hmmm. I need to look through these. Think to myself, “Oh look, there are those pictures of Hollie’s baby. I need to call her.” Get back online and e-mail her to thank her for the pictures.

9:30am  I really need to leave for work. I am already a half hour late. Oh, well, I think I will stop at Starbucks and get an overpriced coffee.

9:40am  Standing in line at Starbucks and the girl at the register cheerfully tells me, “Good morning to you! What can I get for you?”

9:41am  Blankly I look at her. I say, “I will have a Venti white chocolate soy mocha, half caf, with one Equal and an extra shot of vanilla and extra, extra whip cream. The girl then says, “My name is Tiffany, what’s yours?” I tell her it’s “Ramona.” Tiffany then yells, “A Venti white chocolate soy mocha, half caf, with one Equal and an extra shot of vanilla and extra, extra whip cream for Ramona!” The preppy barista guy, yells back, “A Venti white chocolate soy mocha, half caf, with one Equal and an extra shot of vanilla and extra, extra whip cream for Ramona coming right UP!”

9:48am  Finally I get my drink with very little actual coffee in it and get back on the road to work.

10am  I am finally at work. My boss isn’t in yet so she will never know I was an hour late.

10:08am  A coworker comes back to my office and sits down and tells me all about her shortness of breath, her trip to the sleep clinic and her 39-year-old son who’s never been married and how she goes to his house to do his dishes for him. She asks me if I know anyone who is looking for a man.

10:45am  Said coworker finally leaves me alone because the boss walks in and sees us chatting.

10:45am  The boss gives me all sorts of projects and gives me sketchy info on what she actually wants me to do with them and leaves to go show houses.

12-1pm Get online and check my e-mail. Tricia is doing my wedding invitations; she sends me 10 different fonts and layouts. Which do I like? Why is everything so hard to decide? I print out all the samples using the company color-laser printer.

1pm Yes, it’s lunchtime! Drive home to check on the dogs and grab some lunch.

1:45pm  Leave the house to go back to work. I need to make a quick stop by the bank. Hey, there’s a dress shop, I will make a quick run in to see if I can find a dress to wear for my wedding.

2:15pm  I really need to head back to work so I leave the 10 dresses in the dressing room that I was trying on. Those ladies at the store can hang them back up (they won’t mind).

2:30pm  Back at work.

3-5pm  Work a little on the projects the boss gave me in between listening to my coworker, showing all the new agents how to get into the MLS system they should have learned to do weeks ago and checking e-mail.

5pm Woot! Woot! Time to go home.

5:05pm  Put in an inspirational CD and listen to how good a person I really am.

5:20pm  Get to Tricia’s house to pick-up the kids. They immediately ask me why I am there so early and can they spend the night. I think that adoption idea may be a good thing.

5:40pm  Chat with Tricia and continually tell the kids that we need to leave. Kyle and Brandon have just one more level to finish on the game they are playing.

5:45pm  Finally out the door and are on our way home.

5:55pm  Get home and let the dogs in. Baxter goes berserk and runs all over the house.

6:30pm  The kids are asking me what’s for dinner. Mike (fiancé?) is traveling so that means it’s either mac-and-cheese or grilled cheese or maybe even cereal.

7:30pm  I ask Emily if she finished her homework. She rolls her eyes and tells me that I have already asked her that about five times.

8pm  Tell Kyle to go take his bath. He tells me that he really didn’t sweat today so he doesn’t need a bath and, besides, he took one last night.

9pm  Tell the kids to get in bed.

9:15pm  Tell the kids to get in bed.

9:18pm  Mike calls and we chat about our day and say our good nights.

9:30pm  Tell the kids to get in bed.

9:45pm Tell the kids to turn off the TV and go to sleep.

10pm  Tell the kids to turn off the TV and go to sleep.

10:45pm  Turn the kids’ TVs off because they have fallen asleep with them on.

11pm  Get online for a quick e-mail check. Get distracted. Check MySpace, look on eBay for fireplace screens, reply to a couple of e-mails, read the CNN page, look for dresses online, check my bank balance and read Tricia’s blog.

12am   I fall asleep on the couch watching HGTV and wondering if Tricia will adopt me and fix ME a big breakfast everyday.
