Why Stephany Bowman Loves Her Park Cities Neighborhood

date night spots, green spaces and more

Lifestyle photographer and stylist Stephany Bowman lives in the Park Cities neighborhood of Dallas with her husband Michael and three children. She and the family love exploring all that their neighborhood has to offer, from restaurants and parks to playgrounds and frozen yogurt.

Favorite family restaurant: Mi Cocina at The Highland Park Village. We love sitting outdoors and it’s family friendly. Plus, the frozen margaritas and Mambo Taxis are delicious! 77 Highland Park Village, Highland Park; 214/521-6426

Favorite local park: Lakeside Park is a lovely destination for a walk or a bike ride. The kids love seeing all the different birds in and around the water. There are lots of benches spread out to sit and read. I love the quiet open space; it’s very picturesque for a picnic. 4601 Lakeside Drive, Highland Park; 214/521-4161

Favorite family outing: We love to play tennis at our local tennis courts! The Abbott Park Tennis court is very popular right now—as it’s by an outdoor playground—and the kids love alternating between hitting the ball and running around the park. 4814 Abbott Drive, Highland Park; 214/521-4161

Go-to date night and girls’ night spots: Mesero at Inwood Village is a fun place to have dinner and drinks. Sometimes if we are feeling festive, we’ll cross the street and have after-dinner drinks at Inwood Tavern—a fun spot with music and an outdoor patio. Mesero – Inwood Village, 5330 W. Lovers Ln., Park Cities; 214/654-0185; Inwood Tavern, 7717 Inwood Road, Park Cities; 214/353-2666

For self-care: I love to stroll through the neighborhood. As the seasons change, so do all the gardens, flowers and festive decorations. This helps clear my mind, and the fresh air is good for the soul.

Get active: I got a Schwinn bike for Valentine’s Day, so biking to the local Starbucks or playground has become a lot more fun. I don’t know why it took me so long; I’m the last member of my family to purchase two wheels! I also go to our local YMCA where they have fun classes, everything from weightlifting to yoga! 6000 Preston Road, Park Cities; 214/526-7293

Cool off: We love swimming at our local pool and grabbing frozen yogurt at I Heart Yogurt located close by at Inwood Village. My kids love adding all the toppings and sampling all the fun flavors! 5450 W. Lovers Ln., Park Cities; 214/390-2400

Giving back: I enjoy volunteering at the cafeteria at my kid’s elementary school, it’s fun to see them in that setting. They get so excited to see me, and it’s really nice meeting all the parents that volunteer at the school too.

Why Park Cities is a great place to raise a family: This town is a wonderful place to raise our little family. The weather is pleasant, it’s easy to get around and people are welcoming and friendly. It is safe for the kids to play outdoors, lots of local parks and playgrounds too. We love spending time outdoors, and there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy!

Find your tribe: All my local mom friends have at least one child the same age as one of my children. I’ve met moms at the playground after school, at activities our children participate in, and even at our local swimming pool!
