Anupa Philip calls the Denton County neighborhood of Little Elm home with husband David Burrows and their two kids, Avarie, 5, and Canaan, 3. The vice president and market director for JP Morgan shares her family’s favorite family restaurant, girls’ night spot and more.
Favorite family restaurant: We love Hat Creek Burger Co. The food is good and there’s a play area where the kids can run wild while you’re enjoying dinner and a beer. 2661 Little Elm Pkwy., Little Elm; 469/305-7600
Favorite local park: McCord Park in Little Elm. There’s something for everybody: bike trails, splash pad, hiking, lots of trees and green, and just so much open space. Located along the Cottonwood Creek floodplain on FM 423, south of Little Elm Pkwy., Little Elm
Favorite family outing: A new gem we just discovered is The Cove in Little Elm. It’s an indoor water park with a retractable roof with water slides, a lazy river and a surf machine. Our kids are obsessed. 417 Lakefront Drive, Little Elm; 214/618-2047
Go-to girls’ night spot: Fortunata Winery in Aubrey. It’s great for girls nights/date nights/weekend getaways. They have live music sometimes on the weekends, great wine, amazing flatbreads and their outdoor area on those cooler summer nights is everything! 2297 FM 2931, Aubrey; 940/440-9463
For self-care: Maroc Hamam is a spa that has the best steam room and a body scrub that will change your life. I have not found a better place for a little self-care and recharge. 2552 Stonebrook Pkwy., Suite 730, Frisco; 469/803-5833
Get active: Hot Body Yoga in Frisco. The instructors are awesome and it’s one of my favorite ways to mentally reset and get a workout in at the same time! 12021 Dallas Pkwy., Suite 300, Frisco
Cool off: Little Elm Splash Pad! 1001 Witt Road, Little Elm; 972/731-3296
Give back: Every year we adopt three families around the holidays. My kids are involved in the whole process and enjoy shopping for the kids themselves.
Why Little Elm is a great place to raise a family: There’s so much to do; we have great schools and it’s a wonderful community.
Find your tribe: Mostly organically through work, kids’ extracurriculars, etc. We have a great community that makes it easy to connect.
