Where to Celebrate Hanukkah Around Dallas-Fort Worth

This year Hanukkah, or Chanukah, falls on November 28 through December 6, and in honor of this ancient and meaningful tradition, many of the Jewish organizations local to Dallas-Fort Worth mark the beginning of the eight-day Festival of Lights by throwing menorah lighting celebrations with kid-friendly activities and live music concerts. See below for the festivals nearest to you, all of them free and open to the public.

Chanukah Menorah Lighting // Dallas

When Nov. 28 – Dec. 6, 2021 during open hours; one candle lit every evening at 5pm
More info Celebrate while you shop with the Galleria’s nightly menorah lightings, located on level one near Tiffany & Co. On the first night, Mark Zilbermann, the board chair of the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, will deliver remarks before he lights the first candle of the menorah. Sufganiyot– jelly doughnuts – from Jarams and other free treats will be served.

More info The Intown Chabad hosting its annual Menorah Lighting Celebration with a giant pink menorah, kicking it all off with a concert by Hasidic hip hop artist Nissim Black. Free tickets available online with VIP option. Fun for the whole community, this event will have live music, festive Chanukah food and a menorah-mural to boot.

JCC Dallas Hanukkah // Dallas

What to know Spend the last night of Hanukkah at the J with activities for the whole family and the largest Hanukkiah lighting in North Texas. You’ll enjoy a PJ library story time, create your own light to shine, and enjoy latkes, gelt, a dreidel competition.

Grand Menorah Lighting // McKinney

What to know Join Chabad of Allen and McKinney for its first-ever public Chanukah celebration in McKinney. The evening includes arts and crafts, traditional Chanukah foods, lively music, glow-in-the-dark Chanukah necklaces, and a grand Menorah Lighting ceremony.

More info Meet on The Green at Watters Creek to celebrate Chanukah with the lighting of the Menorah presented by Chabad of Allen & McKinney. The festivities will feature a fire and LED show at 5:20pm, and include traditional holiday refreshments, arts and crafts, and glow-in-the-dark necklaces.

Community Chanukah Celebration // Frisco

More info Join hundreds of Jews from across Frisco for an epic Chanukah celebration and live concert featuring The Kosher Klezmer BandSnack on Chanukah donuts and hot latkes, and let the kids enjoy the dreidels, crafts, trackless train ride and bounce house. This particular event honors local doctors for their extraordinary impact on public health. Admission is free but organizers ask that you register online.

Community Menorah Light and Chanukah Gelt Drop // Plano

More info A firetruck will drop thousands of chocolate gelt coins from its raised ladder at this special celebration the Menorah lighting, with greetings from the Plano mayor, dreidels, latkes and, for more entertainment, a juggling show and live music.

More info Collect coin from family and friends to help fill the menorah. Proceeds benefit the Jewish Family Services of Fort Worth and Tarrant County. You’ll enjoy latkes, donuts, crafts and live entertainment. Free to attend, but please register online.
