Residents in Watters Crossing neighborhood, located northwest of the booming Allen shopping center Watters Creek, let their kids go wild on the neighborhood’s hidden-gem playground at Watters Crossing Park (600 Belaire Drive). This playscape earned an A on DallasChild’s Safety Report Card.*
Tucked away from major roadways, this playground sits upon a vast plot of grass, which includes extra amenities like picnic tables, a pavilion, a basketball court, soccer fields and a softball/baseball field. Just down the street (an easy jaunt with a stroller), kids can also explore a man-made lake that’s home to ducks throughout the spring and summer.
The playground itself is adequately mulched, has a wide swing set, plenty of monkey bars and three slides, all of variable heights (graduated for varying ages). The highest slide, which curls before hitting the ground, is a bit tall and kids can’t be easily viewed from the ground (while the slide’s heavy railing is comforting, it can obstruct a parent’s view). Nevertheless, this quiet spot is a wonderful retreat for kids of all ages.
