The Baby Casting Call FAQ’s

Q: What ages is the Baby Casting Call for?
A: We accept children age 0-12 months

Q: Does my baby need to live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to be considered?
A: Yes, for both Dallas-Fort Worth Baby and the Kim Dawson Agency. Dallas-Fort Worth Baby will be selecting children for the cover from the Collin, Dallas, Denton, Johnson, Parker, and Tarrant County areas.

Q: Why is there an entry fee?
A: Unlike a modeling agency, we do not make any money from the babies that are chosen; we charge an entry fee to help cover the cost of hosting The Baby Event + Casting Call. However, we do support a local volunteer organization in conjunction with the event.

Q: I received an email with my child’s appointment time. Is that the time we should arrive?
A: Please arrive at your designated appointment time. The assigned times are estimates and are not exact, and we will do our best to get you through as quickly as possible; however, due to the number of attendees, you will more than likely experience a short wait.

Q: What exactly happens on the day of the event?
A: When you arrive, you will check in at our registration desk for your child’s number. From there, you will be directed to get your child’s professional headshot taken. While our photographers our capturing your child’s photo, representatives from DFWChild and the Kim Dawson Agency will be on-site observing all of the participants.

Q: How should I dress my child for the event?
A: We encourage you to dress your child in his or her everyday attire. Please avoid makeup, hats, big bows or large headbands – we want to see your child’s beautiful face and these can obstruct our views.

Q: What do I need to bring with me on the day of the event?
A: Please bring your confirmation email, yourself and your child(ren). That’s all! No need to bring additional pictures, portfolios or a change of attire.

Q: When will you choose the cover models and those selected for Kim Dawson?
A: Children for the Dallas-Fort Worth Baby magazine and Kim Dawson Agency will be selected throughout the year.

Q: How will I know if my child is selected?
A: You will be notified via the email address, or phone number, you provided during registration, if your child is selected for either opportunity.

Q: Will I be contacted if my child is not chosen?
A: No. Due to the number of applicants, and nature of our year-round selections, you will not be contacted by DFWChild or the Kim Dawson Agency if your child is not selected.

Q: What are the chances of my child being chosen as a Kim Dawson model?
A: Very good, due to the different sizes and ethnicities needed by Kim Dawson’s clients.

Q: What happens after the event? Will you post the winners on your website?
A: We select our cover kids as each publication and corresponding cover shoot occur. If your child is selected, we will contact you to schedule a time for the cover shoot. We do not post the winners in advance. If Kim Dawson Agency is interested in further pursuing your child, they will contact you. Please do not contact DFWBaby or Kim Dawson Agency. If we are interested in your child, we will contact you.

Q: What if I never receive or lose my child’s complimentary souvenir photo from the day of the event?
A: You have 120 days from the day of the event to request a replacement photo. Beyond 120 days, we will not be able to send replacements.
