Text Message Medication Reminders

Looking for an instantaneous solution to reduce the hassle of reminding your child to take his medicine? It’s time to upgrade, Mom. Next time your child’s away from home, send a text message reminder to your busy kid to take medications. Researchers at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center have proven the effectiveness of texting medication reminders – they text dose-time reminders to kids with chronic conditions such as asthma and diabetes.

Reluctant, forgetful or limits-testing youngsters dodge much-needed medications all too often. The Cincinnati study shows that as few as 30 percent of teenagers correctly take medication to prevent asthma attacks. To combat this trend of forgetfulness, the study encourages parents set early patterns in the lives of medication-dependent children. Text messaging might just be the way to improve the trend before it’s too late.
