– Some rust
– Portable toilets
– Litter
Covered by a blue overhang that provides shade, Sycamore Park in Lewisville is a good option for families hoping to escape the sun but not the best choice for those interested in originality and aesthetics. Sandwiched between two basketball courts, the Sycamore Park playscape offers up the slides and monkey bars kids are accustomed to. Traditional swings, however, are noticeably absent. Litter also seemed to be an issue; empty packs of cigarettes were found mixed in with the wood chips that make up the surface of the play area. Sycamore Park scored a B* on the Safety Report Card for a mostly safe design but lost points because of litter, rust and the absence of posted rules. Also worth noting, portable toilets are the lone restroom option, and the park benches show some signs of rust. 700 Hembry St., Lewisville.
