Here at DFWChild, we hold the annual Real Kids Casting Call to find the next sweet smile for our monthly covers. Parents are able to sign their kiddos up, and then we take their picture. That’s it! After that, they’re entered to be one of our cover kids for the next year.
Every month, four kids are chosen from each region (Dallas/Rockwall, Collin, Tarrant and Denton county) and ta-da, they’re on the cover. On top of that, Dallas-based Kim Dawson Modeling Agency attends the casting calls; if the agency sees someone they like, the child might even get signed to a modeling contract. So if your child enjoys the spotlight, our casting call is a great opportunity to bring them to try it out in a real professional environment, and every now and then, we even have a casting call success—for example, Taylin Dacus.
Taylin, 5, loves being a model. According to Taylin’s mother, Nicole Dacus, she truly enjoys all the fun and amazing opportunities that come her way as a result. Dacus told us she loved seeing all the amazing pictures from the castings and fun memories to be made. Because of that, she was really excited to be a part of DFWChild’s casting call. “[This is] a great way to showcase not only [your child’s] image, but personality,” Dacus says. “[That] can be hard when you only see a photograph when submitting to talent agencies.”
After attending the casting call, Taylin booked the April cover of DallasChild. When asked what she thought about the casting call, Dacus says, “[She] had no idea that the agents at Kim Dawson, as well as the important people behind the scenes (photographer, stylists, etc.), get to see the kids in action when they come to do their photo shoot. This was an incredible opportunity to really get to see the kids in action, meet them and get to know them. Not only do [your kids] get the chance to be on a cover, [they] get to work with the leading creative minds that work for the biggest talent agencies!”
Now a model with Kim Dawson, Taylin is very proud of her accomplishments—including a commercial for Borden’s, print photo shoots with Children’s Health and Kid Kraft, and more. “[Also], she has met the most special friends along the way,” Dacus says. “She has really made a name for herself and met so many talented people.” Not to mention her family, friends at school and teachers all have asked for a signed copy of Taylin’s DallasChild cover.
