Vibe: A California-cool cupcake boutique, Sprinkles oozes laid back, but modern chic replete with the aroma of the sugary sweets wafting through the air. Since its opening in March 2007, lines have been known to form around the corner. Although the wait isn’t as lengthy as the first few opening weeks, Sprinkles still reigns as the queen of cupcakes among Dallasites from all over the Metroplex.
Why it's tot-friendly: By definition, cupcakes are as associated with kids as mac ‘n cheese. What could they like more than a shop filled with cupcakes, and only cupcakes? It’s a sugar-seeker’s heaven.
Be sure to try: The red-velvet version (on the menu everyday) lives up to its name. Rich and velvety with cream cheese icing, there’s a reason why it is baked daily. Also look for seasonal selections to sample.
Good to know: The menu changes daily, so be sure and grab one at the store. You can tell the flavors of cupcakes apart by the dots on the tops, also decoded on the menu.
Best times to go with kids: Kids will take delight in the shop any time of day, but it’s best to go when the line is minimal – which unfortunately is anyone’s guess.
