Shoshoni Park in Plano

Location: 3450 Hillridge Drive, on the corner of Hillridge Drive and Del Sol Drive in Plano.

What makes it noteworthy: Although Shoshoni Park has just one playground designed for kids ages 2–12, it has a very large play set with lots of room for kids to run around inside. There are four slides, including a twisty slide and a double-racing slide, and there are four swings, two with baby seats.

Extras: In addition to the large play area, the play set has a built in kaleidoscope, climbing wall, monkey bars, a steering wheel, train window and bell, chain link ladder, and more. There’s also a practice soccer field, a basketball court, grills, benches, picnic tables and water fountains.

Safety: This playground received an A* on the Playground Safety Report Card. However, there was some minor litter, and street-parking-only means you have to cross a somewhat busy street to get to the playground. Also, the exterior of the play structure makes it easy for kids to climb where they are not supposed to, which could be dangerous.
