Royal Park in Dallas

Location: 3461 Royal Lane in Dallas, between Webb Chapel Road and Marsh Lane. Entrances on both Royal Lane and Townsend Drive have several parking spaces.

What makes it noteworthy: With four swings, two spring riders, eight slides and two separate play structures for toddlers and older kids, your little balls of energy will have plenty to do at this modest neighborhood park. The equipment is dated and the lack of trees mean little shade on hot days, but water fountains and several benches and picnic tables allow tired littles to recharge.

Extras: Bring the basketball and tennis rackets. Courts on either side of the playground allow kids of all ages to find outdoor entertainment in close proximity.

Safety: This playground scored a B* on the Safety Report Card because of its older, slightly worn-out equipment.
