Situated within tranquil environs lies Southlake’s Royal and Annie Smith Park. It is evident that the park has been recently revamped, which translates into happier kids and parents. Fortunately for dog owners, there is a pet waste receptacle station with a supply of waste bags. Parents of older kids can keep a watchful eye while walking along the paved trail around the tree-lined park. There is a partially covered picnic area complete with guardrails that connects and overlooks the playscape. Although the structure is relatively small, it offers many activities to keep the kids busy, such as an area to hang and twist on, two side-by-side slides, a bridge, an area to climb over plastic rocks, rings to hang on, multiple metal chained ladders to climb on and off, and a miniature version of an adult’s rock climbing area. This playground makes the grade for a fun and safe place.
