Richardson's Heights Park

Location: 801 N. Floyd Road in Richardson, just south of Arapaho and the Heights Recreation Center.

What makes it noteworthy: Older kids love the three-story-tall play set for ages 5–12, where they can climb to the enclosed top level before sliding down one of two tube slides, or stop on the second level to look out over the park through a telescope. A sand pit for all ages beckons nearby, as well as a tire swing, three regular swings and a swing with back support. Separated from the big kids’ structure by benches and a shady oak tree is an area for ages 2–5 with two play structures, baby swings and a large plastic log for crawlers and climbers.

Extras: If you plan to stay and play a few hours, you’ll find plenty of benches, trashcans, tables and grills for your picnic needs, as well as restrooms and water fountains.

Safety: This playground received an A* on the Playground Safety Report Card despite minor graffiti and litter. Though the tallest play structure is well above 8 feet, metal bars from top to bottom provide extra safety.
