Playground Review: Timber Brook Park in Plano

If your preschooler is in a castle phase, this playground is for you.

LOCATION: 6622 Norwood Lane, Plano. Find street parking along Norwood Lane.

BEST FOR: Kids of all ages who love pretending to be princesses, dragons or knights in shining armor. The park’s bright yellow play equipment has two separate play areas and swing sets for ages 2–5 and 5–12. Older kiddos will find themselves speeding down the swirly slides, climbing up the jungle gym and sliding down the fire pole. Gray, castle-like walls with crenellations adorn the play area for littles 5 and younger—there’s even a pretend drawbridge.

FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE: Benches surround both play areas. A pavilion with additional benches and tables is located near the older kids’ play area—ideal for picnic time and all-important shade. Near the pavilion there’s ramp access to the play surface.

SAFETY: The park is situated on a quiet residential street. There is no fencing surrounding the park, so keep an eye out to make sure your littles don’t make their way too close to Norwood Lane. Play equipment is well-maintained, but the wood-chip surface may pose a problem for kids in sandals. We recommend closed-toe shoes.
