Playground Review: McCree Park in Dallas

Tweens and tots can play at this multifunctional playground

Location: 9016 Plano Road, in the Highland Meadows neighborhood. There is a parking lot located right in front of the park.

Best for: A safe and fun outing on a cloudy day. There are four swings (two regular and two baby) within the playground area and two play sets designated for ages 2–5 and 5–12. If you’ve got a baseball, softball or kickball champion in the family, there is a field right next to the playground, plus a tennis court for the next Serena Williams or John Isner.

For your convenience: Near the playground is a pavilion with two concrete picnic benches to enjoy a snack after all the fun. Benches also surround the playground, but bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen because there isn’t much shade. When it’s time for a potty break, there is only one portable restroom in the parking lot, but it is well maintained and stocked with hand sanitizer.

Safety: The park is set back from Plano Road; however, as Lake Highlands folks know well, it’s a busy street and the playground is not fenced, so be sure no runners get loose into the road.

Overall Grade: 4/5
