If you’re looking for a new play experience for the kiddos that isn’t your usual neighborhood playground—but still gets them outside and moving—we found the place for you. The first phase of PlayGrand Adventures opened a “destination playground” this month in Grand Prairie.
This phase covers about 5 acres—the playground will eventually take up a full 10 acres—and features all kinds of play equipment from slides and swings (everything on a traditional playground), to ADA-accessible equipment, making the space perfect for kiddos of all abilities.
There’s also play options that are custom designed for PlayGrand. The equipment is created to encourage learning, cognitive and motor skill development, sensory engagement, social interaction and, of course, physical activity for the whole family—all in a colorful, vibrant space.
Ultimately, the finished product will feature a total of nine (nine!) play zones—Tranquil Adventures, Adventure Village, Adventure Challenge, Adventure Sports, Adventure Zone, Natural Adventures, Woodland Adventures and Adventure Hill. (Try saying all of that without losing your breath.) Each zone will emphasize inclusive play.
This first phase comprises two of the above areas, Adventure Hill and Adventure Zone, along with plenty of parking and restrooms. There are separate areas designated for children 6 months–24 months, another designed for ages 2–5 years and the rest of the space is for ages 5–12.
Adventure Zone is the highest intensity play for all abilities, where kids can climb, swing and spin themselves into a frenzy. (This zone houses the area specifically for toddlers.)
Adventure Hill provides kids will all abilities a chance to experience different heights and physical challenges—think slides, climbing equipment and learning activities put together in ways traditional playgrounds don’t really offer.
Added bonus: The play space is open daily from dawn to dusk and year-round, with plenty of shade and social areas throughout.
PlayGrand Adventures is part of the EpicCentral Grand Prairie development—which also houses Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark, the Summit Active Adult Center, GrandLawn Amphitheater and more. It’s a one-stop shop for recreation for the whole family!
