Parkwood Hills Park in Fort Worth

Grade: A (20 points/24 points)

+ All equipment is in great shape in a big open setting

Playground is not shaded
No parking lot

The neighborhood of Parkwood Hills, off of Parkwood Hill Boulevard between Basswood Boulevard and North Tarrant Parkway, has a nice, well-maintained park within walking distance. Parkwood Hills Park includes a pavilion, playground and walking trail. This park, which earned an A on our safety report card, consists of more than eight-and-a-half acres with plenty of room to start a game of football or Frisbee. The playground is one structure for all ages with a tunnel connecting the separate sides for younger and older children. Each side does have its own three slides and climbing structures. The old-school favorites that my family loves, swings and a merry-go-round, complete the play area.

Something different that this park boasts is a Parcourse Fitcenter, which is basically an outdoor workout center, used mainly for stretching and strengthening exercises.

Since this park is in a neighborhood, there is no parking lot, which might be a problem if you are not in walking distance. The other negative is no shade on the playground, but the pavilion can provide relief on a hot Texas day; just make sure to bring some water along.
