Oishii

VIBE: Oishii boasts sushi and pan-Asian cuisine. What's pan-Asian, you ask? Well, it's a celebration of several Asian cuisines you know and love, from Chinese and Japanese to Thai and Korean. This place is laid back, for sure. It's a word-of-mouth gem, with no frills on the décor, but superb service and food that speaks for itself.

WHY IT'S TOT-FRIENDLY: One look around Oishii's dining room on a recent evening, and you spy tiny school uniforms from various North Dallas private schools. Families flock here for the fresh Asian fare and appetizer favorites, and the kids love it.

BE SURE TO TRY: If the kids are into sushi, make it a family affair. If not, there are plenty of rice dishes with steamed vegetables to please little palates, and the pot stickers are not to be missed. You'll fight over the last one, for sure.

GOOD TO KNOW: Call ahead and pick up your order for a cozy night in. Portions are generous, and you'll avoid an inevitable wait.

BEST TIMES TO GO WITH KIDS: Oishii fills up fast, even on week nights. Sushi bar dining is an option, but probably not ideal for families. Arrive at an early dinner hour, and you'll scoot right in.
