Welcome to the Neighborhood
Saddled for decades with a bad reputation, Oak Cliff is reasserting itself as the hip place to play and live in Dallas. On weekends, families enjoy patio dining and shopping at the many colorful storefronts in the walkable Bishop Arts District or get their nature fix at Kiest Park. (History junkies can cap off their visit to the Sixth Floor Museum in Dealey Plaza with a matinee movie at the Texas Theatre.) The kiddie Kandinskys in your family will get plenty of inspo from Oak Cliff’s bustling art scene, as the city’s top talents in design, music and street art are your neighbors. Area-wide renovations have led to historic houses becoming hot properties—from Tudors in Kessler Park to the stone cottages in the L.O. Daniel area—so be prepared to drop a pretty penny to live in the Cliff. It’s worth it for the bit of Texas history you’ll get to call home.
