Newby Park in Fort Worth

Location: 1105 Jerome St., on the corner of West Rosedale Street and Jerome Street in the Mistletoe Heights neighborhood of Fort Worth.

What makes it noteworthy: This playground covers all your basics for a modest neighborhood park. It has four swings (including two baby swings), six slides, two spring riders, a mini rock climbing wall and a couple game panels.

Extras: Bring a basketball to dribble around the half-size court and single hoop. Several picnic tables sit under a pavilion and a couple benches surround the play set. Plus, a few excellent climbing trees surround the park.

Safety: This playground earned a B* on the Safety Report Card. This playground doesn’t have separate play structures for tots and bigger kids. The large single playset is set up to allow for toddlers on one side and bigger kids on the other, but there is no clear distinction.
