It started with the bed, then the bench, and the rest of the room came together from there. Kelly Robinson’s “sanctuary” is her own bedroom (and bathroom) where she admits that when anyone needs to find her, they check here first. The tranquil color palette was intentionally designed to be “calming and soothing – it’s just peaceful,” says the vivacious mom of two (ages 12 and 10). Both the bed and bench were custom-created for Robinson; the bench designed with little ones in mind: “When the kids are sick, they can be in [here] without being in the bed,” she notes. The bathroom is just as relaxing even though “every single person in this house uses that bathroom,” muses the Mini-Cooper driving mom. Stepping through her French doors to her backyard, Robinson leads us to her outdoor fireplace where she and her husband read the paper every Sunday morning, enjoying the quiet before the kids awake.
