Molly Dorsey, who works in operations for a due diligence firm, loves the green spaces in Farmers Branch, her “city in a park,” and neighboring Addison. This area is where she and husband Jon are raising their two boys: Luke, 8, and Hunter, 6. When Dorsey’s not hanging out with her family and friends at Brookhaven Country Club, you might find her watching Dateline or 20/20—“I love trying to figure out a good crime mystery!”
Favorite family restaurant We love Nate’s Seafood and Zoli’s Pizza, both on Midway at Belt Line. Nate’s has the best crawfish in town, and Zoli’s has delicious pizza that’s a little outside of the box. Their spinach artichoke dip is amazing! For a special treat, we like to go Creamistry and watch our ice cream being made with the liquid nitrogen.
Best park We live right around the corner from a pond (my boys call it the “lake”) off of Oakbrook Parkway, where we can ride bikes, watch the turtles and ducks, and see the golfers on the course nearby. We often go on walks after dinner around the “lake” and will see people out fishing, walking their dogs and just enjoying the fresh air. And the Addison trails are great for a fun afternoon outdoors.
Favorite family outing We love going to Brookhaven Country Club so the boys can play mini golf and we can sit at the firepit to have drinks with friends. On rainy days, we like to go to LOOK Cinemas and catch a movie.
For a night out I love Hudson House on Belt Line! It’s just down the street from us and is conveniently located, so that it makes the ideal spot to meet girlfriends for lunch or a girls night. Another great spot is the Mesero patio on Belt Line overlooking the Prestonwood golf course. And Table 13 is a hidden gem. It’s definitely a must-try for date night.
Self-care spot My favorite place for an afternoon of alone time is Castle Nail Spa in Addison. I also love Joy of Waxing in Uptown (Allison is the best!)—it is worth the drive down the Tollway every time.
Go-to for getting active Since we are members at Brookhaven Country Club, my husband and I both work out at their fitness center when we can. I love taking barre and cycle classes there during the school year. Since the pandemic, I’ve enjoyed riding bikes around our neighborhood with my sons and taking walks with my husband in the evenings.

For cooling off Brookhaven Country Club. It’s a great family club that has a baby pool, splash pad, an adult pool and a huge family pool. There’s also a mini golf course connected to the pools and a great firepit to have dinner or drinks after a long day. My boys also love going to the Farmers Branch Frog Pond; it has a lazy river, large slides, a pool and a huge pirate ship area.

How they give back My family loves volunteering at Hunger Busters, a nonprofit that provides sack dinners to children in Dallas ISD who may not get a meal at home each night. It’s a great place for the whole family to volunteer, and my kids love that they can help too. It has sparked some great conversations! During the holidays, we volunteer at Metrocrest in its holiday store—prepping, making stocking stuffers and sorting donations. It’s our favorite thing to do as a family each holiday season!
How she found her mom squad I am actively involved at both Brookhaven Country Club and at my children’s school, Trinity Christian Academy in Addison. We have such a tight-knit community of families we adore at both places, and they feel just like family to us now.
Why Farmers Branch is great for families We have lots of green spaces, parks and areas to run and play. Our taxes are low and our town is small, but we are in the middle of all that Dallas has to offer. In Brookhaven, our neighborhood, there are lots of young families moving in and redoing homes, and you’ll always see people out walking, jogging, biking and fishing.
