Location: 240 W. McDonwell School Road, Colleyville. It is located in a residential neighborhood, next to the fire station.
What makes it noteworthy: The play structure for ages 5–12 consists of one slide and all types of climbing ropes. Your climber will love it; others may find it lacking. The structure for ages 2–5 has two slides and is the perfect size to entertain little ones. There are also swings and a climbing boulder for bigger kids.
Extras: McPherson Park boasts a hiking trail, gardens, wind sculptures, pavilions, basketball courts and sand volleyball courts, plus a splash pad that is open until Labor Day. Little historians will want to see the park’s Dunn/Tirk log barn, built in the 1800s, one of the few log structures left in Tarrant County.
Safety: McPherson Park scored a 23 out of 24 on the Safety Report Card for an overall grade of an A*. The equipment is new, and the whole park is clean and well maintained. The biggest safety concern is the climbing boulder, which could pose a safety threat to young or inexperienced climbers.
