Location: 2050 FM 423, Little Elm. This park can be hard to spot — look for it next to RaceTrac and in front of The Mansions by the Lake housing development.
Why it’s noteworthy: This futuristic playground is less than a year old and features one-of-a-kind play equipment. Kids can climb through a giant spherical jungle gym and lie down in a basket-shaped hammock swing. The playground sits on a rubber surface with extra spring.
Extras: More than a mile of hiking and biking trails run through the park as well as an 18-hole disc golf course. The playground also includes triple, double and single slides and two unique baby swings.
Safety: McCord Park scored an A* on the Safety Report Card, but keep an eye on kids while they play in the jungle gym as younger children may fall or get tangled in the ropes.
