Maribel Lozano’s Favorite Things About Keller

where to find fresh-grown food, scenic trails and water slides

For stay-at-home mom Maribel Lozano, the charm of Keller lies its dual nature. With just over 45,000 residents, Keller is small enough to feel warm and inviting—but it’s also big enough to offer abundant shopping, dining and recreation opportunities. The community keeps Lozano and her family (husband Reyes, 12-year-old daughter Cienna and 7-year-old son Elias) on the go all day long, from breakfast excursions to evening bike rides.

Favorite Family Restaurant: De Vivo Bros. Eatery, a family-run spot with Italian and American comfort food. They have a great selection, the best breakfast and amazing desserts. The staff is very friendly, too. 750 S. Main St., Suite 165, Keller; 817/431-6890

Best Park: Johnson Road Park has a great playground, with several obstacles and slides for the kids as well as plenty of space for outdoor sports. They also have a covered area for cookouts and picnics. 640 Johnson Road, Keller; 817/743-4050

Favorite Family Outing: Keller Farmers Market. It’s open on Saturdays, spring through fall, in Bear Creek Park. They offer a wide variety of foods and merchandise from great local vendors and farmers. 400 Bear Creek Parkway Keller

Go-To for Going Out: Truluck’s has a great ambiance for date night. They offer live music and great food—their crab cakes are an absolute must! 1420 Plaza Place, Southlake; 817/912-0500

Self-Care Spot: Corinthian Wellness Spa for massages, facials and more. The spa has excellent service that is individually focused for each client. 1251 E. Southlake Blvd., Southlake; 817/416-9366

Where They Get Active: Bear Creek Park. There are plenty of bike and walking trails with great scenery, such as the garden and waterfall. Bear Creek Park also has two playgrounds. It’s a great overall experience for the whole family. 400 Bear Creek Park Road, Keller; 817/743-4050

For Cooling Off: The Keller Pointe is one of our top summer options. There are indoor and outdoor pools, lazy rivers, water slides, a splash pad and a water playground. It’s also right across the street from Rush Bowls, which is our favorite spot for smoothies and acai bowls. How They Give Back: My husband and I volunteer for our local church. We also occasionally volunteer at our kids’ school.

Why Keller is Great for Families: We like that it’s a small-town feel, with great schools, friendly people and plenty of options for active families.

How She Met Her Mom Friends: I have connected with awesome moms through my kids’ involvement in recreational sports and their school.
