Lonesome Dove Park in Southlake

Grade: A (21 points/24 points)

+ Clean and quiet area
+ Equipment in good shape
+ Water fountain

No restrooms
Shade over only one piece of equipment
Needs more surfacing material

Lonesome Dove Park, located in the Lonesome Dove Estates off of North Carroll Avenue, is a well-maintained park spanning eight acres. Although this park is convenient to the neighboring community, the playground is very small. There are two separate playgrounds for different age groups as well as a seesaw and swings. The equipment for the younger kids has a climbing area and two slides. The piece for ages 5–12 consists of a combination of climbing apparatuses that could pose a danger if children aren’t strong climbers or they play unattended. The park also includes a pavilion with picnic tables, grills, water fountains and a walking trail. Lonesome Dove, which received an A* on FortWorthChild’s safety report card, doesn’t have enough features to provide a day of fun, but it’s a good escape for a short time.
