Jaycee Park in Farmers Branch

Location: 14229 Dennis Lane, Farmers Branch. Follow the stroller-friendly walking trail around the baseball field and across the creek’s pedestrian bridge to find the playground equipment, or park in the neighboring complex.

What makes it noteworthy: The dinosaur-themed playground is larger than most playgrounds and offers a variety of swings, slides, monkey bars and tunnels to keep kids busy. It also boasts three different age-specific play areas.

Extras: Tree-shaped picnic tables are the ideal height for mini park patrons and help encourage kids to take a break from playing for snack time. Don’t forget to pack a basketball for a pickup game on the park’s nearby court.

Safety: Jaycee Park scored an A* on the Safety Report Card, but keep an eye on curious kids who may wander toward the park’s creek, which has steep embankments.

Plus
+ Water fountains
+ Awnings over all equipment

Minus
– Limited and hard-to-find parking
– Restrooms are only open when baseball fields are in use.

Overall grade: 5/5 stars
