Indian Creek Park in Plano

Tucked away in the quiet streets of The Hills at Prestonwood, adjacent to Willow Bend shopping center, is a wide plot of grass and a hilltop playground at Plano’s Indian Creek Park. Positioned perfectly for neighborhood get-togethers (Mom can let the kids play while she waves hello to Dad playing golf on the neighboring golf course), this playground earned an A on DallasChild’s Safety Report Card.*

Although it does not offer separate play areas for both ages 2-5 and 5-12, the park does have more than sufficient safety features, such as the recommended depth of “loose fill” material that carpets the playground floor (a depth of approximately 12 inches). The Indian Creek playground protects children from dangerous falls with a surface of pea gravel. However, the lacking variety of playground structures for the different age groups is an unfortunate downfall.

Additionally, the playground does not offer an abundance of seating or benches for parents who are supervising their children at play. All in all, Indian Park is a great playground for nearby shoppers or neighborhood moms to take a break and let the kids blow off steam.

This review was distributed to Plano Parks and Recreation for further review and/or action.
