Guest Services

With the holidays come large feasts and out-of-town relatives. Whether they’re from your side or his, you want to make any guest in your home feel like they could stay forever (even if you would prefer they don’t!). Pamper them with little luxuries that will make their life on the road a little sweeter during this holiday season.
Start by placing flowers in the room (unless of course they’re allergic). Freshly cut flowers brighten any space, especially when the weather outside is, well, frightful. Ask your florist (try Down2Earth florist in Austin Ranch, 214/483-2323) for what’s the best of the season.
Warm them up with slippers to wear around the house, and maybe even a robe if you want to offer that extra indulgence (try Bed Bath & Beyond, www.bedbathandbeyond.com). Houses can get chilly in the wintertime, and nothing’s better than wrapping yourself in a warm robe and slippers after a hot shower in the morning.
Other guest items that will sweeten their stay are simple things such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, pint-sized shampoo and conditioner, perfumes and a water carafe and glass next to the bed (try Restoration Hardware, www.restorationhardware.com or Williams-Sonoma, www.williams-sonoma.com).
No matter what you place by their bed or by the sink in the bathroom, remember to surround them with things they like — your taste aside. After all, you want to make them feel like their home for the holidays.
