Glencoe Park in Dallas

Location: 3700 Glencoe St., in Dallas, just south of Mockingbird Lane off Highway 75. Park along Glencoe Street at the east end of the park.

What makes it noteworthy: Glencoe Park is surrounded by trees, and the new playground has built-in awnings to keep kids shaded. While preschoolers explore the two small slides, climbing board and solar system-themed tic-tac-toe board on the play set for ages 2–5, big kids can clamber through an obstacle course of climbing equipment. The big play set also features two slides, faux rock climbing structures and monkey bars (including some that spin). Two regular swings, two baby swings and two seesaws (think small saddle seats, not the long boards that can crush little feet underneath) await nearby.

Extras: This 14-acre park is a hub for neighborhood sports, with fields for rugby and softball, courts for tennis and basketball, and a walking trail for a family stroll. If you bring a picnic, beware — the park has a water fountain, but no restrooms.

Safety: This clean, well-maintained playground received an A* on the Playground Safety Report Card.
