Fish Creek Park in Arlington

Location: 2121 Havenwood Drive, Arlington. The playground is located directly behind Bryant Elementary. Parking is at the school.

What makes it noteworthy: This park has two playgrounds next to each other. One is covered, but the equipment looks older. It does, however, have slides and lots of monkey bars. The uncovered playground has newer equipment with a climbing wall and double slide.

Extras: Fish Creek Park has a walking trail, basketball courts, a pavilion and exercise equipment. The playground is part of the Arlington Independent School District, so it’s only open to the public during non-school hours.

Safety: The biggest safety concern is the pea gravel that covers the surface of the park. It is so sparse in some areas that you can see that hard dirt underneath. The covered playground has a few bent poles supporting the monkey bars and there are small amounts of rust on some of the equipment. Fish Creek Park scored an 18 out of 24 on the Safety Report Card, giving it an overall grade of a B*.
