Evers Park in Denton

Location: 3201 N. Locust St., on the corner of North Locust Street and West Windsor Drive near Evers Park Elementary School in Denton.

What makes it noteworthy: With some TLC, Evers Park has the potential to be a great playground. Kids can race each other down the racing slide or zoom down one of the other two slides, in addition to scrabbling up the climbing net and through the tunnel. But there are no swings, and as of this review, there were large sections of wood paneling covering missing parts of the play structure, making it hard to see kids on the other side.

Extras: The playground is surrounded by baseball fields, and the parking lot is spacious. Plus, there are benches, a covered pavilion, water fountains and restrooms nearby.

Safety: This playground received a C* on the Playground Safety Report Card. In addition to some litter and the splinter-filled wood paneling, the play equipment is not separated by age, so older kids and tots have to share.
