Description

Waste to Wonder—this new exhibition on view at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History February 15–May 24, 2026—explores how art and environmental care intersect, inspired by Willie Cole's "A Tall Drink of Water" sculpture made from recycled water bottles. Through engaging visuals and hands-on activities at the "wonder station," visitors will learn to reduce plastic waste and creatively reuse materials, encouraging more thoughtful consumption in Fort Worth.

Waste to Wonder explores how creativity and innovation can transform discarded materials into something new. Made in collaboration with the Tarrant County Education Foundation, the exhibit examines how long common items take to decompose, what materials people used before plastics, and how artists and companies are rethinking waste today.

Interactive stations invite visitors to sort materials, test recycling knowledge, and explore how many bottles, cans, or plastic bags it takes to make familiar products. Designed using repurposed materials where possible, Waste to Wonder acknowledges that sustainability is an ongoing effort and that imperfect can still be impactful.

The museum is open 10am–5pm Tuesdays–Saturdays at noon–5pm Sundays, closed Mondays.
