Cavanaugh Flight Museum, the largest collection of flying historic and military aircraft in the Southwest, hosts its biggest weekend of the year, Warbirds Over Addison. North Texas aviation buffs will have the chance to see, touch and even FLY in many of the planes in the unparalleled Cavanaugh collection.

The Cavanaugh Flight Museum will fly many of its treasured WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam-era airplanes including: the P‐51 Mustang, AD-5 Skyraider, FM2 Wildcat, and many more. Aviation fans can book personal flights at discounted rates in many of these historical planes. Flights start at $75.

Guests can enjoy aircraft on display plus a Navy A7 Corsair II display and dedication as well as the popular Sherman Tank demo.

This year, the Cavanaugh will celebrate the contribution made by Vietnam era Search & Rescue flights by highlighting the museum’s Huey, Caribou, Skyraider, O-2 and A-37. The weekend showcases not only the extensive Cavanaugh collection, but also visiting aircraft brought in by warbird enthusiasts and museum collections around the country.

In the evening on Saturday, May 18, a collection of nearly a dozen military vehicles will be transported to Addison Circle Park to help kick off the Patriotic Party, which is a part of the Addison After Dark series. The same Sherman Tank will fire in the park at 7pm to officially launch the event.

Free with admission: $12 adults; $6 children ages 4–12.

The Cavanaugh Flight Museum is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization devoted to promoting aviation studies and to perpetuating America’s aviation heritage; the museum fulfills its mission by restoring, operating, maintaining and displaying historically-significant vintage aircraft, and by collecting materials related to the history of aviation.

Most visitors opt to enjoy the Museum’s collections on a self-guided basis by reading the informative signs near each aircraft or display; however, formal museum-guided tours are also available by appointment. The Museum is open every day EXCEPT Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day -- even offers birthday parties!
