Description
For over three decades, Ronald McDonald House of Dallas’ signature fundraiser—The Trains at NorthPark, presented by Bank of Texas—has delighted the hearts and minds of young and old alike during the holiday season with the visually stunning and beloved holiday exhibition of miniature trains rolling across 1,600 feet of track, on a journey through Dallas and the country’s most iconic cityscapes.
Choo-Choo Tales
This year, through a unique and first-time collaboration with the Dallas Children’s Theater and Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts’ - Theatre Conservatory, Ronald McDonald House of Dallas is expanding the Trains experience into live storytelling and theater with the inaugural Choo-Choo Tales series.
From November 15 through Christmas Eve, free performances of Flora and the Train, a commissioned short play written by recent Booker T. Washington HSPVA graduate and budding playwright, Esau Price, will be performed at NorthPark.
Inspired by an RMHD family, this Choo Choo Tale is a heartwarming story about a sick bear (Flora) who is traveling by train to Dallas during Christmastime for medical care. Emily Ernst, Artistic Director of the Dallas Children’s Theater, will direct this inaugural tale.
The play will be performed by student and professional actors to entertain patrons of NorthPark Center, cultivate empathy, and build even greater awareness about the House that LOVE Built in Dallas, which will be celebrating its 45th Anniversary in January.
The performances provide a unique opportunity for young artists to engage with professional theatrical production while giving back to their community. Through this collaboration, RMHD continues to reinforce its mission.
Make a trip to NorthPark for Trains and Choo-Choo Tales a part of your family holiday plans.
