Description
Ballet North Texas artistic director Nicolina Lawson's staging of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker will warm your heart and fill you and yours with the spirit of the holidays. This year’s production will be shortened to one act but will still include all of the favorite characters from the dancing snowflakes to the Kingdom of Sweets.
Get your tickets early to this grand holiday event on Thursday, Dec 10 and Friday, Dec. 11 at 7:30pm. This Short & Sweet version is a great opportunity to introduce little ones or any ballet newcomers to live performance.
A Sensory Friendly Performance: Friday, Dec. 11 at 2pm
These performances are specifically catered towards children and families with autism and others with sensory sensitivities. BNT brings this magical classic to life in a comfortable and relaxed environment.
Ballet North Texas' sensory friendly performances offer accommodations, striving to provide an environment that is nonjudgmental and supportive, coupled with performance modifications and changes in behavioral expectations.
Patrons may freely respond to shows in their own way and without judgment, and are welcome to do things like sing or dance. A variety of other modifications help to provide a comfortable environment: omission of strobe lights and sudden loud noises, relaxed house rules, reduction of sound levels, and elimination of startling special effects.
The show will go on for Ballet North Texas, the company is closely following the rules set forth by the Irving Arts Center. If you are attending The Nutcracker: Short & Sweet, please be aware of the COVID-19 safety protocol. Also follow Ballet North Texas on social media for updates.
