Description

Did you know that in 1912 two men attempted to rob the Southern Pacific Express Car near Sanderson, Texas? This robbery became known as the Baxter’s Curve Train Robbery, a.k.a. Sanderson Train Robbery. The robbery was perpetrated by Ben Kilpatrick and his partner Ole Hobek, but was thwarted by the train’s crew. It is often considered to be the last full-sized train robbery in Texas history.

All aboard for The Great Train Heist! Keep an eye out for greedy outlaws onboard the One-Hour Excursions or Cotton Belt Route to the Fort Worth Stockyards round-trip excursions. Join in on the fun, and help railroad detectives solve the mystery of who robbed the Grapevine Vintage Railroad.

Train robbers will go through each coach “robbing” passengers with a fake bag of money. The detective will come through and pass out wanted posters so passengers can sketch what the robbers looked like. Passengers will also help the detective decode a telegram, so they can make an “arrest.” Reserve your tickets at gvrr.com for the:
-Grapevine One-hour Excursions
-or Cotton Belt Route Excursions, which begins at the Historic Cotton Belt Depot and rides along the rails through six different cities in Tarrant County before ending in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Once there, riders will have the opportunity to explore the Stockyards before re-boarding to return to Grapevine.
