Description
Scout-N-About - Hand Mending: Historic Skill with Modern Uses is a partnership between Fort Worth Museum of Science & History and Log Cabin Village. This session will be hosted at Log Cabin Village.
Join Troop 1600 for Scout-N-About, an adult scouting series where various community organizations will provide hands-on workshops for adults that teach practical, creative, and DIY skills. Each session will be hosted by a participating community partner organization and will focus on a new skill or craft. Tickets available here.
What to Expect:
Join Log Cabin Village for the first session of the Scout-N-About program series. Log Cabin Village will host a hand mending lesson for beginners on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm.
During this hands-on class, Village historical interpreter Alexis will teach participants basic stitches to repair clothing tears, patch holes, and replace missing buttons.
Please note that the buildings at Log Cabin Village are historic and not climate controlled. We encourage all visitors to dress for the weather; buildings are heated by wood stoves during the winter.
What’s Included:
All participants will receive a starter sewing kit to take home along with hands on experience so they can repair their own clothing at home; no sewing machine required! Participants will also receive a Scout-N-About badge to show off their new skills.
The class will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, with the rest of the time reserved for questions and more individualized assistance.
Space is limited and registration is required.
