McKinney's annual Scare on the Square has grown to hundreds of trick-or-treaters enjoying hayrides, treats and a safe, secure, family-fun Halloween event. Historic downtown McKinney is closed off for trick-or-treaters to cross the street safely and go shop-to-shop for goodies. Bring your little goblins and join your friends and neighbors for Scare on the Square. Concert performance by Rockin with Rhett begins at 4pm.
Costume contests will be available for age groups 0-3, 4-7, and 8-12, and group costumes. Twenty entries will be accepted in each age group and category on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign-ups begin at 5pm and the contest begins at 5:30pm. A $50 cash prize will be awarded to the first place winner in each category. The winner of each category will go on to compete for the grand champion title. To register, visit the registration table on Tennessee St. at the event.
Join the inaugural Pumpkin Race hosted by the merchants of East Louisiana Street. Similar to Pinewood Derby but with a spooktacular twist! Craft your pumpkin racer at home and bring it to the Square for some Halloween racing fun. Make sure to conjure a design for your pumpkin that will scare the competition. Take part in this new American tradition and show everyone your Halloween spirit. Visit our website for the official race rules.
Free.
