Description

The Say Their Names Memorial was created for and by the community to honor black lives lost to racism, injustice and police brutality. Originally concepted and designed by Portland-based event planner, Joy Proctor, it has since taken root across the country in cities like Atlanta, Austin, Lexington, Pasadena, Santa Barbara, Seattle, Silverlake, West Hollywood, and of course Dallas.

Emily Clarke of Emily Clarke Events and Alicia and Adam Rico of Bows and Arrows Flowers came together to bring the memorial to Highland Park back in June. While the Highland Park memorial was taken down, they have since installed two more memorials at St. Philip's School and Community Center and Thanksgiving Square.

Their collective hope for these memorials is that they would be a place where the community may come to grieve, reflect, learn, and remember the lives of so many that were lost.

On display at Klyde Warren Park's Muse Family Performance Pavilion.
