Description

On Saturday, January 14, venture out to Samuell Farm for this Fishing Derby and Open House and see what it;'s all about—amazing adventures in a historical setting. The entire family is invited to try out this adventures free of charge. Kids ages 16 and under can participate in the Youth Fishing Derby for a chance to win some big prizes. Bring your own pole or borrow one.

Event Schedule

Fishing Derby:
Ages 16 and under can fish to win prizes. Bring your own pole or use one of ours. Fishermen and women ages 17+ must have a fishing license and are not eligible for prizes.
10–10:15am: Registration
10:15am–12:30pm: Fishing Derby
12:30pm: Fishing Derby Ends
12:45pm: Awards

Mountain Biking:
Learn the fundamentals and go on a beautiful trail ride led by our certified staff throughout the grounds of Samuell Farm. (Ages 7+)
10am, 11am, 12pm

Archery:
Bullseye! Our archery certified instructors will teach you the basic skills required for archery while you try to shoot for the bullseye.
Every 30 minutes from 10am–1pm (Last class at 12:30pm)

Survival Skills:
Learn to tie some basic knots and create a plow shelter sure to keep you safe from the elements around you.
Every 30 minutes from 10-1 (Last class at 12:30)

Camping:
Texas Parks and Wildlife, our camping partner, will be here to teach you the basics of pitching a tent and setting up camp to make it an enjoyable experience.
Every 30 minutes from 10am–1pm (Last class at 12:30pm)

Kayaking:
Ever wonder how to keep your kayak from going in circles? Our ACA certified guides will teach kayak ground school which includes an overview of gear, paddling strokes and water safety.
Every 30 minutes from 10-1 (Last class at 12:30)

Geocaching:
It’s a modern-day treasure hunt using GPS devices. Find hidden caches around the farm and take home the treasures found within!
Every 30 minutes from 10-1 (Last class at 12:30)

Leave No Trace + Conservation + Pollinators = One Incredible Experience.
In Nature Explorers, you’ll learn how all of this works together to leave the great outdoors GREAT, plus make a craft to take home.

Nature Photography:
Capture the natural beauty of Samuell Farm through the lens of a camera and print off your favorite picture to show off for all to see.
